Source of kelp-less lines in a kelp bed?

They look almost like ship paths carved through the bed, but that would be a lot of damage from a boat passing by!

San Diego certainly has some funny looking ports. I think that's Sea World up at the top?
I found the answer to the weird lines.

Definitely Sea World and Mission Bay!
I wonder how many residents of San Diego know that there's a huge FLOATING FOREEEEEST right off-shore? 😃

Not nearly enough! I'm living in California right now, and have done a bit of driving along the #1 highway right on the coast, north of LA. It's neat to see that road in these maps, and especially neat that the whole stretch of coast that I recognize is covered in kelp forests! It's a beautiful coastline above water, nice to know it's beautiful below the waves, too.
Haven't spotted my house, yet. Too far inland, I think.
