Lake images and algae/kelp?

Should we mark green areas on lakes? Also, how do you tell the difference between kelp and other algae?
Edit: Realised giant kelp is a species of algae

No, don't mark the green areas on lakes. The species we are interested in (Giant Kelp) doesn't grow in lakes. Usually we can tell the difference between kelp canopy and other algae because kelp canopy is much brighter than other algal blooms. However, through the course of this project we might run into other species of kelp that we were not expecting to find!
