#kelp at bottom left of island and likely under clouds
http://landsat.usgs.gov/science_an_dataloss.php Here is a link with some information about the artifact. No need to mark it.
If you made a location change, notice the note below the location names. The change may not go through until the queue of 5 is complete.
You can't go back, but don't worry because the images are seen by a group of people. So your miss will be ok in with the mix. 😃
Wow! Not dense, but widely spread #kelp
maybe faint #kelp ?
When this started there was a link about artifacts which has been reposted several times. If you read, you'll see the answer. AKP0001p5c
I believe the middle third, top to bottom could have some #kelp in it. But yet it could be darker clouds.
?kelp at the center of the top portion.
faint areas of #kelp on the right side.
#kelp large, but thin
I believe there may be #kelp @ about the center of the shoreline about 1/2 " out. Not sure if light cloud or kelp
#kelp missed marking it.
Anthropomorphic qualities attributed to a cloud?
Wow and, wow! a very wide forest! It was real big here one other year, too.
Wow what a load of #kelp !
#kelp missed marking on last page
A dragon, breathing "green" fire on the left, and 1 green ghost along with 3 white ghost friends, in the center. 😃
#kelp In 2001, July 16 that patch is healthy!
You know I've been looking at this since I first saw it, I wonder, could they be waves?,driven by a weird wind? just wondering?
Not sure if it is kelp or a dark cloud?
#kelp but I clicked through it on classification pg.
#kelp The kelp is so visible too, so bright green and the background very dark, yet it shows.
#kelp tip of elephant's trunk
#kelp Why do the dates change by 1 month when you go from the classification pg to this pg? On the class pg it says this was taken in may
#kelp San Clemente Island 6/29/95
I don't make aimless comments. I believe I see green under there when I enlarge but am uncertain so solicited opinion. I didn't hashtag it.
maybe kelp under clouds?
#kelp? missed it on classification pg
#Windmill farm not food farm! and there are hundreds of them.
#kelp and under some of the clouds, I believe
#kelp - slight left side ?
#kelp ? at the bottom, right
This looks like the picture of some critter, I think a sea critter, but I cannot think of the name of it.
Unknown "prehistoric" dinosaur like critter with a bit of a hunch-back, and a big-head. 😃
A "green" ducky for in the tub, instead of yellow. Up above it is a bird (lake) with it's wings spread! Crash landed!
#kelp San Clemente Island 5/24/11 Possibly some under the clouds too.
a bird looking back over his shoulder 😃
They have been trying to do something about them being so "dark" and we could not see the kelp because of it. See AKP0008up7
#kelp ? faint off of Long Point on Santa Catalina IS
#kelp Santa Cantalina 12/28/03
small spots of #kelp
#kelp on west coast of Santa Cantalina I believe, but I missed it on the classification pg. 9/13/11
#dailyzoo V-is for victory for whatever you have overcome. Surely there is something you have defeated!
It was Feb. I don't believe the kelp is as active then. Late summer seems to be when they are.
Will we have to redo the images or how will that work out?
Sort of looks like a park bench with a tree or two in the middle of the desert. 😃
Is that an algal bloom in the rivers flowing into the ocean? Or something else that is showing, sediment stirred up?
#kelp under clouds, I believe.
Clouds don't really have the ability to be "naughty" or "nice". Please click clouds so it can be removed from the dataset. 😃
Click clouds and next, there is no reason to post it to say nothing is there. It rather clutters the board, makes it hard to sort through.
It's a faulty image. Just click next and it will be taken out of the dataset.
#kelp just under sign, but I missed it on the classification page!
#kelp and a good amount in 9/29/11!
#dailyzoo a face on the earth
#kelp Dana Point Maine Life Refuge 5/5/10
#kelp at W Anacapa IS 5/30/90
#kelp I believe under those clouds. San Clemente Island 7/28/94 Sure wish those clouds weren't there!
It looks like a faint #kelp growth just below the hump in the center. It was dated 2/15/94, here it says 3/15/94. They all change by 1 month
Wow, look at all that #kelp visible even though the clouds in August of 03.
#kelp in Feb of 1990 on San Clemente Is
San Nicolas Island #kelp 8/6/03
#kelp still visible this late in the year.
Maybe some #kelp up in right corner near edge.
You mean up in upper left corner? If so, no. These areas are not sea bottom but mudflats, or sandy. Read blog post about them.
#kelp visible and under clouds around San Clemente Is. 9/10/10
A bit of #kelp, 1/3/2000. How about that, January!
I believe this is #kelp along San Clemente Is. 5/14/1990
Lake Elsinore, so no kelp
Green clouds? interesting
7/5/94 #kelp the ele has greens to eat! why those lines in it?
11/7/08 #kelp visible
You only need to put things here to ask ?, discuss, get help, or maybe show something to someone. + it's extra work you don't need to do.
@GES you don't have to bring all of these over here to this board. Just click on cloud button and next. For land, just click next.
The island of Tasmania I believe.
The link looks like it is mudflats there so likely not kelp. It needs sea bottom.
The top is the Waterhouse Conservation Area in the NE of Tasmania. Big Waterhouse Lake is about 1/2 way down on R.
Are you using either the link provided from this pg or the class. pg., or are you entering the co-ordinates yourself? Map looks different.
these dark images are hard to see, for sure! But I agree, nothing there.
I don't see any kelp, this is all land. At about the center of the left edge is the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
I see nothing either.
You're right! It does have that look about it! I think the lakes/resevoirs have a lot of interesting shapes.
Not artifact, just the edge of the image.
It is not necessary to post these. Just click next. It takes them out of the system.
El Capitan Reservoir, in CA. Hoover Dam is in Arizona.
A faint color all along R side and land but quite wide! I wish the color compared to the previous image set.
A large #kelp forest
We are basically out of this "set" of images. They have to prepare and reload a new set. Response has been greater than they anticipated.
look at the image # it is AKP00024fs if you see that more than once, then yes it is repeating. There are also numerous cloud images.
yes, Clear Lake
how do we know that this one is not kelp? The airy, thin nature of it? I see several of us got this one wrong.
By the way, have you looked at the blog entry on tips and tricks for error-free classification? Good pointers about using the map links.
If you are talking about along the top edge, middle third, after looking at google earth link, that looks like it is the ocean.
I believe that is #land under the clouds.
it looks like a lot of #kelp partly obscured by the clouds. It is spread far and wide but does not appear dense. 10/31/01
blowing bubbles of kelp
and look at 9/16/02 same area.
a nice large, #kelp forest off Salt Point State Park, Ca 11/3/02
I believe this is actually Lake Mendocino so no kelp, but maybe lake algae.
Area on right that maybe looks kelpy I believe is sand marsh or seagrass on Flinders Island. The same for Prime Seal Island on left.
Clear Lake so not kelp
But kelp is what this project is looking for.
mud flats? orange thing = Big Reedy Lagoon
Looks so. There is upper portion like inverted bowl. this is in L side of upper 1/3 of lower 38.981984 lat. -122.736074 long. Like a tail.
Is this a #fire ?
#lake so not kelp, probably algea
One of the scientists provided a link for us about the types of landsat errors, here it is. AKP0001p5c
#kelp see AKP00014pz Same area.
not kelp is a lake, possibly algae.
Mendocino Bay. When it is tucked this far into a bay where the freshwater is flowing in, is it kelp? Or is it algae?
Again #landsat error. Follow link included in comment by a scientist in image AKP0001p5c I explains several of the types of "glitches"
nice patch of #kelp
10/1/01 7 days before image AKP00022si #kelp
another #Large #kelp forest 10/8/01
Some nice patches of #kelp in 10/8/01
A large #kelp forest 7/31/1999
a lake, so not kelp
glitch, I believe
Sorry, they are glitches. Just click next and ignore. That is unless they do have some clear ocean with the kelp showing. Then mark.
Anxious to read about it. I've tried to research it, but don't have a good starting point!
Different depths, mountains in reverse I believe.
Another of good size 9/13/01
So my evaluation was correct. 😃
Maybe an alge, but not the kelp they are looking for, it is only in ocean from what they say in areas of this site. Look at blog.
a nice, large, #kelp forest 9/16/99
Correct, they are in the ocean. This image is land vegetation.
not kelp according to scientist AKP0001qxv See his comment on a similar image.
That is if you are talking about what is above center of 3 windows. Did it not correct when that next image slid over?
They are showing co-ordins. for the current image. If you change loc. the name changes but cos. don't change til next image comes in.
A nice large #kelp forest! This is Carmel, Ca area.
This is Tasmania.
#kelp off coast of Pacific Grove, Ca
This looks like some unknown long-tailed species chasing after some other maybe crocodile type!
Yea, having done more I notice the configuration appears more of the wave shape as opposed to kelp. I wish it weren't such a clousy day!
There is something there, for a while I believe waves, then Kelp. Who knows? 😃
#kelp large areas
For some reason blue clouds look colder than white clouds!
Serious wave action!
Kelp and waves?
This looks rather similar to an earlier pic label as a boat, see AKP0000o4k
#point-Pinos On GEarth that area near tip shows some green material in the water. Don't think it is all kelp as I had indicated.
kelp or waves?
Cloudy, but I believe I see some on the NW coast, and other areas. Macquarie Harbor
#Ravenswood Slough and Westpoint Slough, Bedwell Bayfront Park. area. Is that some just N & S of Rt 84 bridge?
Are you looking for it in these types of waters? Since it is not open sea?
I believe I see green under the clouds along the shore.
